MORE VIDEO: 2010-2011 School Year - Grow With Us OUR HISTORY Founded by Elder Robert Jones and Sister Gloria Jones, Redemption Christian Academy has been serving God's children since 2008 in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were inspired by over thirty-five years of overwhelming success of their good friend and brother, Rev. John Massey Jr., along with his wife, Joan (school principal), at Redemption Christian Academy, in Troy, New York. From the Director's DeskDear Parents, It has been an honor and privilege to serve you and the children in the Corpus Christi community. There have been some really good times as well as some struggles along the way, but I know both the students and staff learned a great deal from it all. Because of our uniquely small classes, each child is afforded one on one support when needed. Because of our dedicated teachers and staff, the school environment is similar to the family environment. We work together, pray together, play together, and lend a hand to support anyone sincerely in need. Fridays are School Spirit Days. Chapel is also held on Friday mornings. On Thursdays the students receive wonderful and exciting art lessons and projects by the art teachers. Our students take at least two field trips a year to see the world outside of the Redemption Academy campus. We have visited the Art Museum, Aquarium, Museum of Natural Sciences, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi’s “Karma” (Floating Science Lab), The Botanical Gardens, The Early Scholars Learning Academy, Barnes and Nobles, and a family farm to feed the animals. Mrs. Green and the students performed live on KIII TV. We planted, grew, and harvested seasonal vegetables and planted a butterfly garden. We have Science Fair, Fall Festival, Family Picnic, and an end of the year Moving Up ceremony. Additionally, we have a Christmas Program performance by the students. Our P.O.B. (Parents On Board) parent support group sold dinners, had a yard sale, and sold cookie dough to raise funds. They’ve purchased student desks, a dry erase board, and sports equipment for PE. They are fantastic. We serve breakfast and hot lunch is provided by Metro Ministries to staff and students. Our tuition is intentionally kept affordable to our families therefore it is our generous donors and sponsors that make the Redemption Christian Academy Corpus Christi education possible.
Our teachers are underpaid and some work two jobs to be able to teach our children, but it is the love of Christ and Children that compels them to continue. The church Pastor, Pastor Bob, teaches 4th to 8th graders, mops the floors, takes out the trash, picks up the lunch and seeks out donors in addition to his pastor duties. God bless you Pastor Bob.
